Looking for a Undead killer build for my ranger
Hello
I am in the process of doing Shards of Or in normal and hardmode, for my books, it is my first time doing them, was reading the dungeoun discription on guild wiki, i would appreciate if someonr could put together a solid build for killind undead there, i already got a Sundering Hornbow of Deathbane rdy , i was thinking something along the line of judges insight/barage??,

Judge's Insight is a bit poor. Try the Dervish skill Heart of Holy Flame which is great for converting your attacks to holy damage for a long duration of time. Used with Barrage it can be very useful at disposing of enermy mobs. So maybe something along the lines of...
[skill]Barrage[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Heart of Holy Flame[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
I left a few optional skill's here but basically keep Heart of Holy Flame up at all times, even with no points invested it gives you 30 seconds of Holy Damage. Light of Deldrimor is also useful against the undead providing your Delver rank is decent enough ^^
Although the thing that bugs me about Shards of Orr is the 2 monks per mob, its often a lot more useful for a Ranger to go Magebane/BHA to take these monks down and let the real damage dealers, Ray of Judgement monks, tackle the rest of the mob ^^

Heart of Holy Flame
Volley
Broad Head Arrow
Savage Shot
Sloth Hunter's Shot
Troll Unguent
Rezz
Light of Deldrimor
works pretty good

It's really down to your personal preferance concerning the bowstring/bow grip. I myself prefer using a Vampiric Bow String when using Barrage, just be sure to switch weapon sets for when your not using it against multiple targets. As for the Bow Grip I like Fortitude or +5 Armor as I enjoy the extra buffer and survivability they provide ^^
But its really down to your own style of play.

This is against undead, the holy damage from Heart of a Holy Flame or Judge's Insight will outdo Splinter Weapon. With barrage, it's butchering.
For undead I've swapped out JI for Heart of a Holy Flame the moment it became available, it is so much easier to use and maintain and doesn't require any attribute investments.

Also, BHA might not be the best idea as one of the monks carries a condition removal (Smite Condition i think), so unless thier beside each other (which they normally aren't, its a best idea to bring Magebane. MB really shines in this dungeon, due to the fact that it can interrupt through SoD that the monks love to use ^^ So it can interrupt that all important ZB.

So target the Monk with condition removal then. Undead like to clump so Epidemic will normally daze all the Monks.
And use JI on a smiter Monk or something, you won't have the energy on a Ranger to use it while using BHA/Volley/etc. The Monk will be able to keep it up on all physicals in the party.

You need some condition removal if you plan to go the holy damage and barrage way yourself because at 2-3 skeleton wizards per group you will continually be blinded.

Good Build I personally would drop troll unguent and put all points expertise and marksmanship, If the healers are good you don't need self heal.

They dont always clump. I've had times i've dazed the Cleric (I think its him with the condition removal) and he managed to get SoD up. And if that wasn't enough the other monk was sitting casting ZB non stop. So in this case, everyone's beloved and overused BHA = fail.

thank you, and yes indeed... I realise now that I rarely use Troll Unguent...
but Temple of the Damned is still a walk in the park with this build and the 3 N/Rt's

I find 3 Ray of Judgment Monks make very quick work of the dungeon.

Im going to quick jump in here and offer the same reasoning for [skill]heart of holy flame[/skill] you can also try [skill]technobabble[/skill] for some of the more crucial mobs, since the arent bosses, they always get dazed. might be enough to take em down in time.
hope that helps
